Donation of mobility aids to 917 beneficiaries

In partnership with Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), Jaipur

As a part of its CSR initiatives in the area of Healthcare, Arcil donated prosthetic limbs and other mobility aids to 486 beneficiaries with mobility impairment from underserved areas in Jaipur in January 2023 through Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS). As an ongoing Project, we have further donated prosthetic limbs and other mobility aids to 917 beneficiaries with mobility impairment from underserved areas in Jaipur as well as two other locations to be specified by Arcil through outreach camps conducted by the centers of BMVSS.

Mobility is one of the most important elements to be independent and artificial mobility aids help to overcome dependence and give confidence to the beneficiary to do something gainful in life. The financial assistance provided by Arcil will benefit about 917 physically handicapped needy beneficiaries to walk back with dignity to a normal self-respecting and productive life.

Supporting surgeries for children with Congenital Heart Disease

In partnership with G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital (GKNMH)

India has the world’s largest number of children with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). The incidence of CHD worldwide is 9 per 1000 live births. In India, with over 25 million babies born annually, between 2 - 2.5 lakh babies are diagnosed with CHD. Over 70,000 of these children are critically ill and to survive, require medical intervention within the first year. There are only about 60 hospitals throughout the country equipped to deal with this specific medical problem in children and around 27,000 open heart surgeries are performed every year, which is not enough to meet the medical treatment of a large number of children and they unfortunately pass away due to lack of such treatment.

The G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital (GKNMH) in Coimbatore is a not for profit hospital which has performed 2600+ open heart surgeries till date with a success rate of 99% including surgeries for neonates and infants. GKNMH is the only hospital in India which performs Ozaki procedures on children, by which method the heart valve of the child is recreated using the child’s own tissues thereby avoiding the use of an artificial external valve and reduces the cost of treatment.

Project Healing Tiny Hearts has been initiated by the Hospital to facilitate the medical treatment of lesser privileged children in the age group of 0-18 years suffering from critical CHD and requiring life-saving intervention. Arcil has supported critical surgeries of 3 infants aged between 2 months to 2 years under this Project. All the surgeries were successful and the Hospital has offered a grateful thanks to Arcil for its timely intervention to save these infants.
 

Benches for ZP Schools, Raigad District of Maharashtra

At the time of the inauguration of the interactive science lab donated by Arcil at the Zila Parishad Schools Nhavekhadi and Vadghar in Raigad District of Maharashtra in June 2022, we observed that there was no furniture in the schools. Arcil has donated 410 furniture items custom-made as per the requirement of the Schools for students and their teachers in December 2022 for better infrastructure that can aid education.

Arcil helped set up a physiotherapy unit for the elderly

In partnership with Shield Foundation

Arcil helped set up a physiotherapy unit for the elderly of Matunga Labour Camp and Dharavi area of Mumbai through the Shield Foundation. Shield Foundation is working for underprivileged senior citizens of these localities through the conduct of free weekly physiotherapy camps under the guidance of trained physiotherapists from Lokmanya Tilak Hospital to provide the beneficiaries with proper physiotherapy care with easy access from their homes. There are around 35000 elderly residing in these localities who are not able to afford physiotherapy treatment prescribed for their ailments. Arcil’s donation of basic physiotherapy equipment to Shield Foundation will benefit 80 to 100 such patients per month to live with dignity irrespective of their socio-economic circumstances.

Arcil has provided financial assistance to Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), Jaipur to provide artificial limbs, callipers, crutches, tricycles, wheelchairs and hearing aids to 486 needy beneficiaries with mobility and hearing impairment, which will help each of these beneficiaries to walk back with dignity to a normal self-respecting and productive life.
 
BMVSS is the world’s largest organisation providing artificial limbs across the globe and the parent body of the world-famous Jaipur Foot. Though it is a Pan India organisation with 27 branches, its mission is to provide prosthetics and other mobility aids and appliances to as many disabled, as possible, at its centres, and through its outreach programmes and rehabilitation camps across the globe. The Jaipur Knee developed by BMVSS in association with Stanford University has been hailed by Time Magazine as one of the best 50 inventions of the world.
